Mrs. New York American Beauty 2008
When Jennifer Stehlar was crowned Mrs. New York American Beauty, it signified her triumphs over tragedy. Two horrific car
crashes within eleven months left her with multiple brain injuries and debilitating TMD (tempo-mandibular joint disorder)
both of which she still faces on a daily basis.
Despite the doctors devastating prognosis, Jennifer chose to never put a period in the chapter of her life where God had
only put a comma.
Two years of rigorous therapies and the acknowledgment of her injuries as life long, ignited her passion to promote “Safe
Driver Awareness.” By utilizing her personal story, she travels the state in official partnerships with the New
York State Police and DeLacy Ford sharing her experience of those fateful moments which changed
her life forever.
She stated: “The goal is to save lives from this needless tragedy. It is the number one killer of teenagers in America
and I’ve come to realize that if this were a disease Americans would be demanding a cure. We already have the cure and
it is education. Two times I have become part of the statistics, my goal is to lower those statistics and save lives through
education, ultimately savings families from the pain mine has endured.”
Sgt. David Miller of the NYS Police and the NYS Governors Traffic Safety Committee recognized Jennifer’s efforts
to promote this topic. Therefore, prior to her crowning she and her father were chosen to share their personal story via a
statewide PSA which has been aired on all media facets. "Get It Together-Buckle
Up!" It can be viewed on her website @ www.mrsny2008.com.
On November 7th, 2007, the NYS Police Superintendent held a press conference to announce Jennifer’s official
partnership with the troopers. Since then, they have worked tirelessly to spread the message via school assemblies, television,
radio, commercials, billboards, auto shows, child safety checks, safety corridors and so on.
Jennifer holds a degree in communications, is a former Mrs. New York United States placing first Runner up at the national
Mrs. USA pageant and prior to her injuries, was a Las Vegas performer. She was inspired to do so by her famous family, the
“Scinta’s” who are headline performers in Las Vegas.
Jennifer and her husband reside in South Buffalo with their two dogs, Apollo & Chloe'. Jennifer experienced love
at first sight when she met her husband of six years, Douglas. He has been her strength through this life changing experience
and they believe anything is possible as long as they dream it together!
